unnamed-1You control your life.  You have the power to make it as amazing as you want it to be.  Here are 9 tips to help make your life super awesome.

1. Do Things That You Love

Take a moment to identify what makes you happy. It can be anything you like. I like to start my day off each morning with a hint of positivity. I listen to (and of course sing!) my favorite song. It’s simple, I know, but it puts a smile on my face. So it’s become a silly daily morning routine.

Whatever you love, do it as often as you can. You should feel like you’re on cloud nine at least once every day.

2. Get Focused

Focus on the now. When you’re in the moment, be present. Don’t think about the past or the future. Live what’s happening at the exact moment in time.

3. Create A Bucket List

Make a list of everything you want to do. Do you want to go to Bali and visit a Buddhist monastery? Is hiking the Grand Canyon on your wish list? Do you want to play hooky from work one day? Is it a goal of yours to visit every museum in your city? Write down everything, and anything, you want to do, and make an effort to make it happen. Experience as many things as you can.

4. Live For Yourself

Live for yourself. If you want to take a break from dating, go ahead. If you’re craving a slice of pizza, but you know it’s bad for you, eat it anyway. Perhaps you want to spend a whole day reading in bed. Go for it, and enjoy it. Do things because you want to, not because someone tells you to or you think you have to.

5. Stop Complaining

Complaining doesn’t get you anywhere. It makes you annoying and prevents you from attaining your ambitions. If you’re not happy with something in your life, change it. You have the power to do anything you want. So, what are you waiting for?

6. Like Your Job

Do work that you truly love. Not everyone gets to be a pro-athlete or travel the world and write about it on someone else’s tab, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy what you do. If you’re passionate about what you do, it’s not a job. You should have a career that you’re excited about. Life is too short to dread Monday mornings.

7. Be An Optimist

Be positive. Choose to be optimistic and have a sunny outlook on life. Don’t worry about the things that you can’t control. Focus on what you’re grateful for and what brings you joy.

8. Surround Yourself With Greatness

The people you surround yourself with have a big impact on your attitude. When you’re around happy, relaxed, vivacious people, it’s easy to have a positive outlook on everything. You should spend time with people who make you laugh, put a smile on your face, and of course, enhance your life.

9. Take Advantage

Take advantage of what your city has to offer. There are an array of things you can be doing at any given moment that are really, really awesome. Go to a wine tasting. Take a cooking class. Attend a cake making workshop. Sign up for an art class. Go on a yoga retreat. Spend the day in a bookstore.  Go see a play.  Listen to the opera. Experience a concert. Book a scavenger hunt. You get the point – do unique things that add greatness to your life.

Your life should be filled with joy. On any given day, you should be able to reflect on how fabulous your life is!

Make A Change

If you’re looking for someone to change your life, you’re in luck. That person is YOU! As I mentioned in an earlier post today, life is short. It’s up to you to make your life as great as you want it to be. Here are 5 steps to help you make a positive change in your life.

1. Identify What You Want

Figure out what you want from life. Do you want to write a memoir? Then write it. Sit down and map out exactly how you’re going to make that happen. Are you tired of looking in the mirror and seeing a body that you’re not happy with? Then make a plan to change your body. Decide what steps you have to take to get the body of your dreams. You see where I’m going here. Whatever it is, identify what you want and strategize how to make it happen.

2. Empower Yourself

Take control of your life. Realize how powerful you are. If you don’t like something, recognize that you have the power to change it. Empower yourself to know that you can do absolutely anything you set your mind to.

3. Stop Making Excuses

Excuses are for people who don’t really want things. If you want to make something happen, you can. It’s that simple. There’s no such thing as being too busy. You can always find time for what’s important to you.

4. Decide How Badly You Want It

If you want to lose weight but you say you have no time, think about the men and women who wake up at 5 AM to go to the gym before work. Can that be you? I think so! Are you ready to devote your weekends to making your dreams come true? Successful authors who have a full time job spend their Saturday’s and Sunday’s writing their book. That can be you too. Whatever your goal is, you can make it come true.

5. Change Your Mindset

When you get into the mindset that you can do anything you want, positive things will happen. Your mind is very powerful. Tell yourself that you deserve greatness, and then make that happen!

Bring On The Positivity

Positive mind. Positive vibes. Positive life. How wonderful does that sound!? And, it’s not difficult to achieve. Here are 4 tips to help you increase the positivity in your life.

1. Smile

Smiling is really important. If you walk around NYC, you’d be surprised how many people don’t smile. Too many people have a permanent frown on and that isn’t cool. You want to be happy, right? So start by looking it.

2.  Do Something Nice For Someone Else

Kindness is contagious. So is karma. Try something new and indulge in a random act of kindness. If you do something nice for someone else, it makes your day better, and theirs. The person you’re being nice to is (hopefully!) likely to continue the kindness.  On Friday’s, I’m a fan of buying coffee for the person behind me in line at Starbucks. They’re usually so surprised and excited that their day automatically starts off with positive vibes.

3. Think Nice Thoughts 

Make an effort to only think nice thoughts. When you focus on the good things in your life, you’re setting yourself up for success. Think about what you love most about yourself. What’s the most exciting thing happening in your personal life? What would your friends say is your best quality? What do people like most about working with you?  Increase the positivity in your life by realizing how great you are and portraying it to those around you.

4. Surround Yourself With Optimism 

Look at who your friends are. Are they supportive? Are your friends good people? Do they encourage you to better yourself? When you surround yourself with people who enhance your life, it’s easy to be an optimist.
